The ancient seat of Pio Monte is a magnificent 17th-century palace, a fine example of Neapolitan Baroque architecture. Its richly decorated halls recount centuries of history and commitment.

Masterpieces by Massimo Stanzione, Jusepe de Ribera, Luca Giordano, Andrea Vaccaro, and an extensive collection of paintings and sketches by Francesco De Mura stand out. At the center of the Chapel, on the high altar, stands the absolute masterpiece: "The Seven Works of Mercy" by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. On the second floor, the Historical Archive and the Library house documents dating back to the 14th century, including precious private collections such as that of d'Aquino di Caramanico, with the parchment of the proclamation of Saint Thomas Aquinas as Doctor of the Church.
